BMDCA Top Winners

Purpose: To recognize those dogs who have excelled in various disciplines.

Statistics for top winners are computed by BMDCA Records and there is no need for the owner to apply. Owners of BMDCA Top Winners will be notified by BMDCA Records by late February.

Categories and qualifications:

  •   For all categories, at least one owner must be a BMDCA member.
  •   Top Conformation Dogs
    • Top dog and top bitch based on all breed points earn an award. A dog earns a point for each dog defeated at each level of competition - best of breed, group placements and best in show.
    • Top three dogs and bitches based on breed points earn an award. A dog earns a point for each BMD defeated in best of breed competition.
  •   Top Obedience Dogs
    • Top BMD in Novice A, Novice B, Open A and Utility A earn an award. The first three qualifying scores are averaged to determine a dog's score.
    • Top BMD in Open B and Utility B earn an award. The three highest qualifying scores under different judges are averaged to determine a dog's score.
    • Ties go to the dog with the highest individual score.
  •   Top Agility Dogs
    • Top BMD in Novice, Novice JWW, Open, Open JWW, Excellent A, Excellent A JWW, Excellent B, and Excellent B JWW earn an award. Preferred classes are combined with Standard. The three title earning scores are averaged to determine a dog's score. In case of ties, the award will go to the dog with the fastest yards per second.
    • Scores earned at the AKC Nationals and the AKC Invitational are not eligible when calculating Excellent B scores.

All BMDCA Top Winners will receive a plaque at the annual BMDCA Awards banquet and are eligible for a free page in the BMDCA yearbook.
